Welcome to netballwiki.nz, an independent information site about netball in New Zealand. Our aim is simple: to make the game easy to understand, whether you are a parent standing courtside for the first time, a new player learning the positions or a fan following the ANZ Premiership and the Silver Ferns.
We are not a club, a netball centre, a governing body or a retailer, and we are not affiliated with Netball New Zealand, the ANZ Premiership or any team. We describe facts: how the game is played, how the competitions are organised and what is worth knowing before you step onto a court or sit down to watch a match.
What we do
On netballwiki.nz you will find plain-language guides to the rules of netball, the seven positions, court dimensions and equipment, along with overviews of New Zealand’s leagues, teams, players and local netball centres. We put particular effort into:
- Explaining netball terms and rules in everyday language, so that someone who has never played can follow along.
- Presenting information neutrally, without favouring one team, centre, brand or product over another.
- Keeping pages current and checked against reliable sources as squads, formats and rules change.
Our principles
Everything we publish rests on three principles: it should be fact-based, independent and easy to understand.
We check details against primary sources wherever we can, such as Netball New Zealand, World Netball, the ANZ Premiership and the netball centres themselves. If a detail cannot be confirmed, we leave it out. Information that changes from week to week, such as draws, fixtures, squad lists and ticket prices, is described in general terms rather than presented as fixed, and we point readers to the official source for the latest version.
Some pages include links to external websites, including commercial ones. Where a link has been placed as part of a commercial arrangement, it does not change how we describe the facts, and we do not rank or recommend one provider ahead of another.
The editorial team
The content on netballwiki.nz is written and reviewed by a small editorial team with experience in producing clear, fact-checked information for a general audience.
Lydia Marchbank – editor and writer. Lydia plans, writes and reviews the content on the site. She has followed New Zealand netball for many years, from Saturday-morning club courts through to the ANZ Premiership and the Silver Ferns, and her focus is on explaining the game plainly for readers who are new to it. She is responsible for making sure each page is accurate, up to date and in line with our editorial guidelines.
How we use AI
Parts of our content are prepared with the help of AI tools, including Claude from Anthropic (claude.ai), which support our research and drafting. Every text is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by our editorial team before it is published, and responsibility for what appears on the site always rests with us. You can read more in our AI policy.

Gamble responsibly
netballwiki.nz is a site about netball. A small number of articles mention sports betting or online gambling as part of the wider sporting picture. That content is information only: we do not sell or arrange gambling, we do not accept bets and we do not give betting tips or advice.
Gambling always involves financial risk and can lead to harm. In New Zealand you must be 18 or over to bet with TAB NZ and 20 or over to enter a casino. Only ever gamble with money you can afford to lose.
